City living is a bit of a touchy subject with most people. I think today more people live in burbs than in cities. Any city dwellers here? What keeps you there?

Let me be up front about this one.. this is one you pop into the car and play for an unsuspecting friend on a long car ride. It's all about the weirdness and tempo of the lyrics -- like being caught somewhere between a country music concert, trip-hop show and beat poet reading. Sound strange? Intruiged? Then download House of Pain by Johnny Dowd.

Yay, I've decided to add the band name to the Title of the post. Hopefully that'll make it easier to go back and search. Salon described this song as "a two-minute burst of simple-minded but infectious energy". Really, I can't top that description. Hey, that guys a professional writer and I'm just a Mech E. Not fair, clanky, not fair..

This song is actually a few years old and off the "A Grand Don't Come for Free" CD by UK rapper, The Streets. Still, I'm posting this because I think it's just soooo funny. For those of you not in the know, the use of the term 'fit' in UK English refers to somebody very attractive.

So without further delay, here is "Fit but You Know It". There is a bit of vulgar language in this song so be warned.

The band is called Hot Hot Heat and the song is called Touch You Touch You. The whole thing sounds like a great 80's punk meets alternative ballad. Reminds me a bit of The Cure..

It's no surprise that this site looks better on Firefox than Internet Explorer. If you are lucky enough to be using Firefox, then do yourself a favor and grab the greasemonkey extension and install this script. It will allow you to listen to all the free MP3's that are posted without first downloading it to your computer. Very handy indeed for those of you who question my musical taste.

Anyone who has ever been captured by Turkish Pirates should probably avoid listening to this track. It might just be a little too painful. You know, with those memories flooding back and everything.

For the rest of us, The Hook, by Stephen Malkmus may remind more of Cake's lazy musical pace. Which, all things considered, is way better than Turkish Pirates.

Sometimes you just find yourself in a deep funk. Depression is the call of the day and nothing anyone says will make you feel better. A good friend of mine is feeling that way right now and so this song goes out to him.

With the current heat wave underway around much of the country, you may be hesitant to download a song called "The Sun Comes Through". But this Kelley Stoltz track has a good groove that reminds me a small bit of the Beatles.

If you're in a music rut, download it and let the rhythm wash over you.

This is a little Jazz number by the name of "De Makeba," which I believe means The Makeba in German. Actually, I have no idea what it means. Anyway, it's a jazzy, summertime swing tune by the aptly name Jazz Dazzlers. Grab a lemonade, sit a spell, and take a listen.
