Hosting, pain of Typo, & hackido.com

When I started this blog back in 2006 I decided to use Typo. I was in my infancy of Ruby development and thought that using a blog written by guys who know way more than me would be a good idea. Turns out I never really took advantage of that, instead choosing to work on my own websites as a way to learn. Any hacking I did on Typo was more because of frustration than love. And as time went on things got a bit worse.
First typo was abandoned, then Mephisto came on the scene, and then Typo was picked up again. In between all of it, a number of companies who were psyched to have a rails based blog got rid of their hosting options. A number of Typo blogs are still out there but I'm betting they're all run on private servers or slices. No mass Typo hosting exists to my knowledge. In an era of free blogging services I just can't justify dropping more than a trivial amount of cash to maintain a blog.
Which brings me to the bad news: I think the people who are currently hosting this blog are going to pull the plug on me. It may not be in the next few months and it may not happen at all, but there is a possibility and I have to be prepared for it.
Enter Blogger. Hey, free hosting! Now enter hackido.com, a domain I've had for a while but have never done anything with. I'm making a few posts over there to test the waters out. If you get a minute stop by and check it out. I'm not pronouncing urbanpuddle as dead yet, but I'd like to see what people think of the new site.
One advantage will be that comments on posts older than 30 days will work again. I'm sure spammers are a problem but I'm pretty diligent so I'll do my best to keep it under control.
