Another sad day for DC

I've talked about it before. If you live in DC you can go die in a war but you can't vote or expect any representation in Congress. It's a sham and more than a little hypocritical that the US invaded Iraq to bring Democracy (i.e. the right to vote) while in the nation's capital, its very citizens suffer from that same inequality. Perhaps the army should invade DC? Here's a write-up by DCist on the topic.
Yeah, it’s really incredibly outrageous. The injustice of it has bothered me for years. The states of Wyoming and Alaska, each of which has fewer people than DC, have vastly more political power. And yet our system is so sclerotic that it’s virtually impossible to change set-in inequalities like that – just like we are unlikely to see the absurd Electoral College abolished in favor of wildly more democratic direct presidential vote.

I’m with you. That’s why I’m voting for Jared Ball in the Illinois Green Primary, and that’s why I’m voting for him in the 2008 election.
