A few months ago I wrote about my experience with Nokia's new N73 Firmware. One of the comments I made was that Sudoku had disappeared afterwards. I was sad to see it go because I found it much more enjoyable than Snakes. Today though, I figured out how to get it back!

As it turns out, Sudoku is stored on the 128MB mini-SD card that comes with the N73 and *not* on the phone itself. That discovery made a huge difference as it meant that it was my transition to a 2GB mini-SD card that made Sudoku disappear and not the new firmware as I initially assumed.

To get it back I once again loaded my original 128MB card (you kept it, right?) and copied the following folders to my Desktop:

  • resource
  • sys
  • private

Once I had those files I once again inserted my 2GB card and copied the entire resource and sys folder over. I didn't want to overwrite my existing "Private" folder so instead I copied all the subdirectories with any Sudoku files in it. In my case, they were called: 1003a3f, 10202dce, and 2000C10

Once the folders were in place, I disconnected my USB cable, brought my phone back online and voila! And voila!.. umm.. ok nothing. Turns out you'll need to shut the phone down and turn it back on again. But after that, if you navigate back to your Games folder you should see your good old friend, Sudoku, staring right back at you. Happy gaming!
